Sri Lanka cultural tours

Fifteen hundred years of capital cities, cave temples and rock fortresses, guided by people who studied here.

The Cultural Triangle is where almost every first trip begins and where almost every group tour rushes. Sigiriya deserves a morning, not ninety minutes. Polonnaruwa is best on a bicycle. Dambulla is quietest at four in the afternoon when everyone else has gone.

Our cultural itineraries run slower than most and cover less ground on purpose. You will see three sites properly rather than six from a car park.

They talked us out of a hotel we wanted because it was wrong for us. That is when I decided to trust them.

We wanted our money to stay in Sri Lanka rather than go to a European booking company. It also happened to be the better trip.

Four itinerary revisions and not one sigh. Our two children were never bored, which I did not expect.
